not sure id want someone ive never met representing my company. after all, dealing with someone one on one is the biggest selling tool in my industry but i can see where other may benifit

The thing I am a bit unclear about is whether there is a difference between a social media consultant and a social media manager. My hunch is that their duties are basically the same or they at least cross over for the most part. Perhaps a consultant advises more than executes the tasks, whereas the manager does all the manual work as a subordinate.

With social media emerging as more of a mainstream corporate activity, there is not surprisingly plenty of demand for social media consultants to provide strategic and tactical insight and counsel. To me, these metrics are secondary considerations when evaluating a social media consultant. All they do is confirm someone is walking the walk as well as talking the talk. Simply because someone has a large social media presence doesn’t mean they offer good strategic and tactical advice.

This is a very good blog post if you don’t know anything about social media yourself then don’t try to hire someone to run it for your company because you aren’t going to be able to tell if they know their stuff or not. Keep posting information like this because it is very helpful when I go to hire someone I will remember this post and do it the right way.

In today’s online market place, you can hire all kinds of drone workers from countries where the economy is lesser than that of the U.S. and be able to pay those workers cents on the dollar. However, those are just manual labor workers. You won’t be getting top level advice. For that you do need the help and guidance of an expert consultant. I will be scouring this site to see if I can find someone to suit my needs.
